Heather (Hastings) McLaughlin

After graduation I went on to get a BA degree from Western Maryland College. Afterwards I became a police officer and while in the police academy, I met my future husband, who is from Delta, PA. He is now retired from the MD Natural Resources Police and I am a retired police officer having worked in Montgomery County. Our son is now grown and out of the house. I never thought I would sell my horse farm in MD, but after retirement, we did just that and bought a ranch in Wyoming! We are now westerners enjoying the Wyoming

My HS story is pretty boring. Most of my time was spent at home in Kingsville riding my horses on the farm and through the Gunpowder. I miss Kingsville and the house my parents built, but my life in Finksburg suited me and I loved my horsefarm, which I operated for over 20 years. I was always in the band and I continued playing my clarinet in college, as well as afterwards, in a community band. Speaking of band, I do get a smile on my face when I hear the local HS marching band practicing. It brings back lots of memories of our HS band and all the parades and Band Camps! What was that God awful stuff they made us stick our hands into and eat during Band Camp Initiation night?
